Dispositions
- Active learners want to learn. They are curious about the world and seek to make sense of their experiences. Loras students demonstrate their ability to learn in active ways.
- Reflective thinkers display insight. They take into account their own dispositions and biases as they think creatively and critically. Loras students demonstrate their ability to think in a reflective manner.
- Ethical decision-makers discern religious, cultural and personal values in order to act with justice and compassion. Loras students demonstrate their ability to decide matters ethically.
- Responsible contributors to professions, societies and religious communities develop their talents and share them with others in ways that respect a global environment and are sensitive to cultural differences. Loras students demonstrate that they contribute in responsible ways.
Thesis
The two dispositions that resonate with my Loras experience is active learners and reflective thinkers. These two are chosen over the other two because the explanations of what active learners and reflective thinkers is exactly how I can define myself as a student in the Loras community. The want to learn and seek out to make sense of their experiences speaks volumes to me as well as taking in my own dispositions and biases as I think creatively and critically. Reflective thinking encourages thoughtful thinking and to look at information in a different way compared to the norm. I think in evaluating relationships it takes a lot of reflecting on a person’s interpersonal communication and the many forms of verbal and nonverbal actions that we use in everyday life.

I believe I have valued opportunities to learn through diverse experiences through the three internships and managing position I have had with a club on campus. That is why the disposition of active learners resonates most with me. I have put in the work, but how will these experiences bring me to the next tier and catapult me into a job in the real-world and how has these experiences readied me for it. I also want to keep learning even after I graduate because learning should not stop at any time. One should always be ready for new challenges and learning curves and I believe you get that from jobs in the real world. The dispositions will help me in the future by attaining goals in getting a job in the sport business world and allow me bring a different element of thinking to the table and that is the kind of goal I want, to make a difference and contribute to a company and make strides in a business.
